Century Office Equipment Ltd was established in 1975 by Fred Bays with his sons Rodney, Ken and Ken's wife Doris. The firm was named for its address - 100 Church Rd, Tiptree. In 1983 Ken and Doris took over the firm followed in later years by their sons Steve and Gavin and daughter Claire. A 2nd branch was opened in 1988 in Basildon, Essex followed by another in 1997 in Harlow. In 2007, Century took the bold decision to move its Tiptree showroom to a former Little Chef, located just N of Colchester directly along side the A12 motorway.
