About Us
read moreWe are an independent, non-profit organisation and registered charity situated in the Cathedral Quarter, Belfast. Founded in 1983 by a group of local photographers as a challenge to media representation of Belfast's experience of conflict, our work continues to reflect a socially engaged ethos, while responding to contemporary currents in photography and politics further afield. Belfast Exposed believe photography is for everyone, it is accessible, meaningful and has the ability to tell stories, allowing us to create dialogue and reflect upon our history, inform our present and inspire a positive future.

Our work encompasses a wide range of organisations and individuals, of all ages, interests and backgrounds. Belfast Exposed community work is in-line with our socially engaged ethos of addressing exclusion, unemployment, mental health, increasing access, enabling creativity and critical thinking by using the camera as a method for driving and documenting change. Belfast Exposed has won 19 awards for the delivery of work we deliver in the field of mental health.
Volunteering
read moreIf you interested and would like to find out more about volunteering at Belfast Exposed, please contact Sharon at s.johnston@belfastexposed.org to request an information and application pack. At Belfast Exposed we have a dedicated team of volunteers who assist staff in the day-to-day running of the gallery. While invigilating in our gallery is a primary element of the role, our volunteers can also get involved with installing exhibitions, and assisting at events such as openings, talks and workshops.

read moreLocated in the heart of Belfast's Cathedral Quarter, Belfast Exposed offers contemporary, multi-purpose spaces available to hire at affordable prices. We have a range of spaces available, including two galleries exhibiting internationally renowned artists and local photographers, as well as a studio, that are suitable for meetings, wine receptions, presentations, seminars, business events, product launches, networking events and bespoke corporate hospitality. We partner with local restaurants to support your catering needs.
