Services
Phase 1 Desk Study
Our Phase 1 Desk Studies assess land contamination risks through historical map analysis, site walkovers, and regulatory data reviews. We identify potential contamination sources like historic mining activity or industrial use, creating conceptual site models to determine risk classifications. Reports follow BS10175 standards and include recommendations for further investigation when required.
Phase 2 Investigation
Phase 2 investigations involve intrusive soil and groundwater sampling to verify contamination risks identified in Phase 1. We employ dynamic sampling, rotary drilling, and trial pitting methods to collect samples for laboratory analysis. Our testing follows British Standards and provides quantitative data for risk assessments and remediation planning.
Contaminated Land Remediation
We develop tailored remediation schemes that isolate receptors from contamination sources. Our solutions include engineered soil removal, geotextile barriers, and clean cover systems. All remediation plans comply with Environment Agency guidelines and include verification protocols for regulatory approval.
Geotechnical Testing
Our geotechnical services assess ground conditions for foundation design and construction planning. We conduct plate bearing tests, standard penetration tests, and laboratory analysis to determine soil strength and load-bearing capacity. Results inform foundation specifications and earthworks requirements for residential and commercial developments.
Environmental Monitoring
We provide ongoing groundwater and ground gas monitoring for contaminated sites. Our systems track contaminant migration and remediation effectiveness over time. Monitoring programs follow EA technical guidance and include data interpretation to support regulatory compliance and site validation.

Questions
How long does a Phase 1 desk study usually take?
Our Phase 1 Desk Studies typically take 7-10 working days when site access is available.
What is a walkover survey and what does it involve?
Our engineer visits the site to take photos and notes, usually taking 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on site complexity.
What comes after a Phase 1 desk study?
Findings determine if further investigation is needed. Phase 2 may involve soil sampling or gas monitoring based on risk assessment.
What is a percolation test?
A BS6297-compliant test assessing soil absorption rates for foul drainage systems, typically requiring an excavator and water source.
Do you provide foundation design services?
Yes, we offer preliminary design guidance for foundations, retaining walls, and concrete structures based on site investigation data.
How are contaminated sites remediated?
We develop Phase 3 Remediation Schemes using methods like cut-and-cover with geotextile membranes, following BS10175 guidelines.
