Your Gateway to Teignmouth & Shaldon's Heritage
We are a volunteer-led charity dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich heritage of Teignmouth and Shaldon. Established over four decades ago, our museum houses unique collections including the Church Rocks Wreck, a 16th-century Venetian vessel, and artefacts from the Morgan Giles Shipyard. Our exhibitions explore local maritime history through figures like Admiral Pellew, whose legacy inspired literary works. We provide educational resources for schools, maintain an extensive photographic archive dating to the 1850s, and offer community facilities like our purpose-built Teign Room. Our Friends membership programme grants unlimited access and exclusive events, while our research services assist historians and local residents. As an Accredited Museum, we combine historical stewardship with community engagement through volunteer opportunities and outreach initiatives.
