Your Local Methodist Community in Barnsley
The Methodist Church Barnsley Circuit is a faith community dedicated to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ across the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley. With 16 chapels serving former mining villages and urban areas, we focus on spiritual growth, community support, and maintaining a physical presence of Christian witness in evolving localities. Our mission prioritises encouraging discipleship, resourcing churches, and enabling service to both local communities and the wider world. Established in a region historically shaped by coal mining, we continue adapting to societal changes while upholding Methodist values. Our team includes ordained ministers and lay workers committed to ministering through worship, education, and outreach. We offer Sunday services, Bible studies, seasonal events like Advent and Lent programmes, and online worship opportunities. The Circuit maintains strong connections with the Sheffield Methodist District and adheres to safeguarding policies. Contact details include a main office number, acting superintendent minister's line, and postal address at Emmanuel Methodist Church. As a registered charity (no. 1135240), we balance tradition with contemporary relevance in our outreach.
