Experience Live Jazz & Blues in Bristols Historic Old Duke Pub
The Old Duke stands as one of Bristol's most iconic historical establishments, offering live jazz and blues performances every night since 1775. Our venue combines rich heritage with vibrant musical traditions, hosting world-renowned artists and local talents across genres including traditional jazz, blues, soul, and funk. The pub's unique atmosphere is enhanced by its architectural significance as a Grade II listed building incorporating remnants of Bristol's original city wall. We welcome families on Sunday afternoons and host weekly open mic nights curated by our resident blues artist Eddie Martin. Recognised by the Brecon Jazz Festival for our contributions to UK jazz, we maintain a legacy of musical excellence while preserving the authentic charm of this historic venue. Our bar offers ciders, ales, wines, and spirits alongside classic pub snacks. The current landlord Stuart Seydel has maintained our musical traditions since 2001, continuing the legacy established through generations of family-run stewardship. Our annual Jazz Fest transforms the venue into a three-day celebration of live music and dance. The building's history as a jazz venue dates back to 1967 when Gerry Bath's Okeh Rhythm Kings performed their first gig, establishing the pub's reputation as Bristol's premier jazz destination.
