Community Support and Youth Development in Hull
Established in 1951, Hull YFC has dedicated over seven decades to transforming urban communities through faith-based initiatives. Our work began citywide before shifting focus to the Boulevard in 1994, where we live, work, and worship alongside residents. We prioritise long-term relationships with marginalised young people and families, addressing systemic challenges through trauma-informed approaches and asset-based community development. As part of Urban Expressions network and CMS Church Mission Society, we combine Christian values with practical support to create safe spaces for belonging and growth. Our 30-year presence on the Boulevard includes 25 years of Breakfast Club provision and 20 years of Frontier Youth camp participation. We operate with five core values: Christ-centredness, holistic practice, relational engagement, justice promotion, and simple living. Our safeguarding policies and partnerships with local organisations demonstrate our commitment to ethical, community-led transformation.

Services
Youth Development
Our youth development programmes provide safe spaces for young people to build relationships and develop life skills. We work with participants from early adolescence through their twenties, offering consistent support through our long-term relational approach. Our trauma-informed methods address the specific challenges faced by young people in deprived urban communities.
Family Support
We offer comprehensive family support addressing intergenerational challenges in under-resourced communities. Our holistic approach includes practical assistance, emotional support, and community integration activities. By working with entire families, we create sustainable positive change that extends beyond individual interventions.
Community Events
Regular community events foster connection and belonging among local residents. These include breakfast clubs, holiday programmes, and cultural celebrations that strengthen social bonds. Our events provide opportunities for skill development and mutual support within the community.
Safeguarding Services
We maintain rigorous safeguarding standards with specific policies for children and adults. Our practices ensure safe environments for all participants while maintaining transparency and accountability. Regular policy reviews keep our safeguarding measures aligned with best practices.
Volunteer Opportunities
We provide diverse volunteer opportunities for local residents and external supporters. Roles include mentoring, event organisation, and skills-based contributions like accounting support. Our volunteer programme strengthens community engagement while expanding our service capacity.
