Preserving Scotland's Catholic Heritage Collections
The Blairs Museum was established in 1992 to safeguard and share Scotland's rich Catholic heritage. Originally known as the Blairs Museum Trust until 2014, our organisation curates an internationally acclaimed collection of fine art, sacred objects, and historical artefacts from benefactors including bishops, priests, and European Scots Colleges. Our mission focuses on public education, preservation of collections, and supporting institutions caring for similar heritage. Governed by up to 15 Trustees appointed by the Roman Catholic Bishops Conference of Scotland, we adhere to rigorous museum and archive management standards. Our collections span centuries, featuring Mary Queen of Scots memorabilia, Jacobite relics, and sacred silverware, housed in world-class facilities across Scotland. Through physical exhibitions, virtual access, and educational programmes, we strive to make Scotland's Catholic history accessible to all. Our team combines ecclesiastical expertise with professional museum practices to ensure conservation for future generations.
