Free2Learn Kilburn helps unemployed single parent Cynthia to get back on her feet and into full time employment, she is a Single Parent with an 8 year old daughter. When she was referred to Free2learn she had been unemployed since October 2012. Cynthia became unemployed due to financial cuts at her place of work and as she had been the last person employed and unfortunately, she was the first person to be let go.

 She was looking for vocational training and job vacancies at her local Jobcentre Plus branch in Kilburn and was recommended to enrol into the FREE course at Free2Learn by her Jobcentre Plus advisor. She found being unemployed was difficult but she knew that she had to provide for her daughter. She felt that because she was older than other candidates it made it more difficult when applying for jobs and her age and lack of relevant qualifications were the reason for her many set backs. Cynthia felt that her only way to break out of the cycle on unemployment was for her to improve her skills. The proposed FREE Free2Learn course was her only hope, especially as Free2Learn not only delivery training by also sourced exclusive full time job vacancies for candidates who complete the training program.

With the aim to get qualified and into employment, Cynthia found the course with Free2Learn to be both very enjoyable and useful. The course gave her the opportunity to gain new qualifications and also to meet new people. She also found that her trainers were easy to understand and the activities together with the staff in branch were very helpful. She has now started her full time employment with a prestigious hotel in central London. The HR department at this particular central London hospitality employer works closely with Free2Learn’s employer engagement team and is recruiting candidates who successfully complete the training program to fill their job vacancies. Cynthia is absolutely thrilled at the opportunities that has opened up for her by Free2Learn and grateful to all the Free2Learn team for helping her to get her back into full time employment and making her feel valued again.
