Why Yeldall
read moreYeldall Manor is a residential rehabilitation centre, set in 38 acres of Berkshire countryside near Reading. For nearly 40 years, we have been helping men to overcome serious drug or alcohol addictions and return to society to live new lives, drug, alcohol and crime free. We offer two consecutive programmes for men, lasting up to eleven months in total, followed by on-going aftercare in the community. The programmes combine work and training in the house and grounds, therapeutic groups and one-to-one counselling.
Our Approach
read moreWe view addiction as a disorder of the whole person, which affects some or all areas of functioning. These may include behavioral problems, confused values, deficits in education or occupational skills, spiritual problems, and damaged relationships. The team at Yeldall Manor believe that recovery is possible and that recovery is not just abstinence. It involves learning to live comfortably as a sober, productive member of the community. It involves learning how to work, develop personal relationships, strengthen family ties, and enjoy positive leisure activities - all without the need for drugs or alcohol.
Facilities
read moreYeldall Manor is set in 38-acres of Berkshire countryside, which creates a superb context for the rehabilitation process. However, we're not 'out in the sticks'. The thriving town of Reading is close by and Twyford, with its mainline train services to London Paddington, is just five minutes down the road. Reading offers an excellent environment in which ex-residents may wish to relocate, with its growing economy, low unemployment rates, and ample training opportunities. The house and estate provide a superb environment for our work therapy programme; enabling men to gain training and experience in a range of green work (including mowing, chainsaw operating, and horticulture) and catering.
Substance abuse rehabilitation
read moreOnce our residents have completed the four Phases of the Yeldall Programme, we assist them in finding safe accommodation, which will facilitate their on-going recovery, living independently in the community. We offer regular support and accountability, along with help for them to access any local services that they would benefit from. We are committed to giving regular support for at least twelve months following treatment. However, we are pleased to help any ex-resident, no matter when they left our programmes.
Detox
read moreYeldall offers an holistic detox that not only helps residents overcome their physical dependency, but also helps them to recover mentally and emotionally. Alongside the detox medication there is counselling, groups, work, activities and an opportunity to relax and build relationships with their peers. The detoxification programme runs in partnership with our local pharmacy and is monitored by two medical doctors. The detoxification programme runs seamlessly into Phase 1.
Working in drug & alcohol rehabilitation
read moreYeldall Manor is a residential Christian drug & alcohol rehabilitation centre for men. We are based in 38 acres of Berkshire countryside (so your own transport is essential). We provide a therapeutic environment in which men can address deep-seated drug or alcohol addictions and the issues underlying them. We sometimes have spaces for Christian men (of any age) on gap year placements. Our main need is for someone to work alongside our residents as they work on the grounds, as well as other practical tasks.
How to apply for Yeldall Manor
read moreIdeally, applicants come to Yeldall Manor for a pre-arranged interview so that they have the opportunity to see the programme first-hand and to talk with current residents. During the interview process, prospective residents are assessed for their suitability for the Manor Programme, their level of motivation, and the level of risk they pose to themselves and others to ensure that Yeldall Manor is a safe place for both residents and staff. We also ask all applicants to confirm that they are comfortable being a part of a Christian programme and with our discipline system.
