WYSOK was Established in 1979 and is headed by its founder and Chief instructor 'Shihan Ann Walker' who after over thirty five years of training and commitment to the martial arts became the 1st woman in Europe to be awarded the prestigious title of seventh Dan in Karate. Since 1979 WYSOK has continued to expand and now boasts numerous karate and martial arts clubs across the area. Whilst WYSOK is large enough to support students in learning and instructors in teaching, and to provide services to both students and instructors like tournaments, courses and grading etc.

read moreA. No you are not, there is no maximum age, although those aged 66 and over will usually need a doctor's note to obtain insurance. Martial arts training is suitable for virtually anyone, regardless of age, fitness level or disability, many of our clubs have members ranging in age from 5 - 65+ years old. A. This can vary but twice per week is recommended, as this maintains fitness and skill. This is also the usual minimum frequency of training to be allowed to take part in grading examinations. A. The average class is 1.5 - 2 hours although for very young children 1 hour classes are available.
