The history of Worthing Pavilion Bowling Club (Click here for the club today) The Club is on land originally owned by H. P (Percy) Brazier on which were tennis courts. Percy was a major benefactor to the town of Worthing. He was an accomplished Sportsman in six different sports as well as Bowls and converted the tennis courts (click HERE for photographs) into two magnificent Cumberland Turf greens in 1947. These were open for play on first. May 1948 but were officially opened on fourth May 1949 when a match was played against a rink from each of six Associations.

read moreThey carry a mark to indicate to which side the bias is applied. Note that bowls may travel outside the boundaries of the rink during their course as long as they come to rest within these boundaries. The players must stand on a rubber mat when delivering their bowl. The mat is placed on the centreline of the rink. The rinks are numbered 1 through 6 the numbers are on the bank at the centre of each rink and the boundaries of each rink are indicated by a white stripe on the bank. Players deliver their bowls from one end to another during an "end" then, when the end is complete; they turn around and play back again.
