After the World War 2, our owner, then a young Stanley Woollett left the RAF as a qualified radio engineer and opened a shop in Bradford. He started selling radio sets which were powered by 12 volt accumulators. As most houses had no electricity those days, he'd put accumulators on charge during the day and then deliver them in the evening so that people could listen to the BBC radio programmes.
