Walkley Community Centre
Community Center in Sheffield, South Yorkshire
Built in the 1st decade of the twentieth Century, Walkley Community Centre began life as the Walkley Reform Club. With an impressive snooker/billiards room, meeting rooms, hall and bowls green it was one of main social centres in Walkley. By the 1960's the Club had gone bankrupt and the building became Walkley Community Centre, run by and for local people. The building has many fine features including stained glass windows which incorporate photos of local men who died in the first World War. We're currently seeking funding to carry out external renovations with internal renovations to follow to ensure the centre meets the requirements of the 21st Century. We hope that these renovations will not disrupt the use or the users of the centre.
