About Us
read moreThe Whole Works was founded by Rob and Deborah Ritchie in 1991 in a derelict 17th century townhouse in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town. We are an interesting place to visit and have been around long enough to have become something of an 'institution' in Edinburgh. We are very proud to have been at the Heart of Edinburgh healthcare for over 25 years! The house was rescued from dereliction and slowly we renovated it to a standard that is in keeping with its past as well as being comfortable for modern tastes.
Why Choose Us
read moreWe have responded to the rising public demand for complementary medicine as well as the increasing respect from GPs and health authorities who have come to recognize the undoubted benefits of the complementary approach in stress related illness, in musculo/skeletal problems, in preventative care as well as in improving quality of life in degenerative and chronic conditions. We offer a range of effective therapies and our practitioners work to the highest professional standards. All the therapists at the Whole Works are self-employed, carry professional indemnity insurance and are bound by the ethical codes of their professional organisations.
Counselling & Psychotherapy Information
read moreCounselling and Psychotherapy offer the opportunity to explore issues which concern you with an experienced therapist; to help you find ways of dealing with difficult issues and circumstances and make changes to enable you to lead a more fulfilling life. Whilst the terms are often used interchangeably, counselling is generally shorter term, dealing with specific issues or events that you currently find difficult. Psychotherapy is generally longer term, helping individuals to understand themselves and their patterns of behaviour; and if they wish to, to make changes.
