Middle School in Ipswich, Suffolk The Royal Hospital School is a leading independent full boarding and day school for girls and boys aged 11 to 18 years. Established in 1712 in Greenwich, it moved to its present site set in 200 acres of Suffolk countryside in 1933. There are 400 boys and 280 girls, 227 pupils in the 6th form and a total of 600 full boarders. As well as being encouraged to nurture academic excellence, every pupil has the possibility to pursue a large array of interests, to discover new passions and evolve values that will last for life.

read moreThe Royal Hospital School is located on the B1080 between the villages of Stutton and Holbrook. From the A14 take the exit signposted A137 towards Ipswich. At the roundabout you will see a sign to the Royal Hospital School which will direct you under the Orwell Bridge on the B1456 from which take a right on to the B1080 through the village of Holbrook and onwards to the School. From the A12 take the exit for the B1070 towards East Bergholt and continue towards Manningtree where a sign to the Royal Hospital School will direct you from the roundabout on the A137 towards Ipswich.

read moreStep 1 Book a virtual school tour with one of our admissions team to see the school and learn more about our approach. Step 3 The Admissions Office will be in touch to invite candidates for an interview with the Head of Lower School. This can be conducted via Microsoft Teams online or in person. Ideally the interview should take place during a mutually convenient time in the Michaelmas Term 2020. Step 5 The Scholarship and Talent Award assessments (Art, Drama, Design, Music, Sport) will take place before a place is offered.

read moreEntry to the Royal Hospital School is normally at age 11 or 13, or into the Sixth Form although pupils may be accepted into other year groups subject to space being available. We recommend that in the first instance you visit the School during term time, when you can experience at first-hand the positive atmosphere and busy life of the Royal Hospital School.
