read moreThe Hollies Daycare Nursery was established in March 2002 and quickly established an excellent reputation for providing first class quality of care for children of pre-school age in the Canton area of Cardiff. The Hollies can now accommodate 148 children on a daily basis and currently employs 36 members of staff. The Hollies offer full and part time places for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years. All our staff are fully qualified and provide a broad and balanced curriculum. Our spacious and well equipped facilities, including an outdoor sensory garden which is open from 7:45am to 6pm Monday to Friday.

read moreAll our friendly staff possess a wealth of experience together with an in-depth knowledge of child development and early education. Each member of our Management team possesses an NVQ Level 5 or above. All of our nursery nurses are NNEB, BTEC, CACHE or NVQ Level 3 qualified, so you can rest assured that your child is always in the best of hands. Our nursery assistants work towards an NVQ Level 3 with training and support provided by the nursery team. In addition to in-house training opportunities the nursery is committed to continuous professional childcare development for all our staff.

read moreThe following curriculum framework indicates how the development needs of all children within The Hollies Nursery environment are met. In order for us as early years practitioners to meet children's needs and promote their welfare, the "Birth to Three Matters" framework is implemented with our children from 6 weeks to three years. The framework focuses on how children learn, opposed to dividing early learning into distinct skills and areas. Planning commences with initial observations and recordings of each child throughout a typical day.

read moreIn 2018, The Hollies launched a daycare setting at Rougemont School, Newport. This new nursery accommodates 44 children aged between 6 weeks and 3 years. read moreAt The Hollies Day Nursery, everybody's favourite part of the day is meal time. And with the tasty snacks our experienced nursery cook dishes up, is it any wonder! The Hollies currently holds The Gold Standard Healthy Snack Award for Pre-School Settings in accordance with Health Challenge Wales. Meal times are an integral and social part of the day at The Hollies nursery. We devise a four-weekly seasonal menu, which is updated and reviewed regularly. The nursery ensures that it meets all the children's nutritional needs, as well as honouring individual and family dietary requirements.

read moreBreakfast is served between 8am-9am. Children engage in free and structured play sessions with their key workers throughout the morning within each of the base rooms and engage in energetic play in the nursery garden and soft play room. Structured activities in both English and Welsh are organised to meet the individual needs and requirements of each child. Staff provide support and guidance when needed and constantly offer praise and encouragement in order to raise the self-esteem and confidence of each individual child.
