The Gurkha Welfare Trust is a registered charity which was set up in 1969. It goals and to relieve poverty and distress among Gurkha ex-servicemen of the British Crown and their dependants. This is achieved by raising funds for distribution in Nepal through the Trust's field arm, the Gurkha Welfare Scheme, and responding to welfare requirements as they arise in the UK. The Trust supports around 10, 000 welfare pensioners in Nepal. Most are in their 80s and are completely reliant on the Trust for a dignified comfortable old age.
