The Green Practice
read moreWe now have a small supply of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine in the practice and we will be contacting patients to arrange their first and second dose appointments. PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE PRACTICE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT - WE WILL CONTACT YOU! As per the NHS guidance, we will be arranging appointments for those in the most vulnerable groups FIRST - currently those in the 80+ age group. If you fall into this category but are housebound, please wait to be contacted by the housebound team - we do not yet know when you will be visited.

Please call the appointment line on 0131 260 9226 and tell the receptionist you have been alerted to the need for a telephone asthma review. The receptionist will enquire if you have a peak flow meter at home. If you do not, then a prescription will be arranged for you so you may measure your peak flow for a few days before your appointment.

These can take a long time to do, depending on the complexity of the medical history of the applicant and the size of the medical case notes we need to review. We aim to do these as quickly as possible but our clinical and NHS responsibilities will always take priority. We will usually complete these sorts of reports within 2 weeks. It is your right to access your medical records. We are happy to provide copies of medical notes or test results, however, we do need the request in writing for our own records as this can sometimes be a lengthy process.

To register all you need to do is to approach the practice and ask if new patients are being accepted. These forms are available on our website under the registration tab or at our front desk should you wish to come in and collect them. There are two GP practices in the Health Centre who register patients on alternate days.

If you are going to be off more than 7 days, please make an appointment to see your GP who may need to examine you before issuing your certificate. Please note these are valid from the day on which they are signed and cannot be backdated. If you have received a sick-note from one of our GPs which has expired and you are simply looking to extend it, please call us on 0131 260 9227 to request an extension.

Those with smartphones will be offered a video consultation whilst those without will automatically be booked in for a face-to-face appointment. During the video consultation, the nurse will either give you self-care advice or a face-to-face appointment will be arranged. It's important to note there are certain criteria (and exclusions) in order to use this service. This may be the Minor Injuries Assessment (MIA) for an appointment or virtual self-care advice, your GP surgery or even a pharmacy.
