read moreThe Firs is an independent primary school for boys and girls aged 2-11. We are characterised by a happy and stable family atmosphere. Whilst having a strong Christian ethos The Firs is supportive of children from all faiths and none. Finally we aim to be a caring community in which all children are appreciated and helped to see that everyone has a special value and that they can gain great fulfilment by contributing to the well being of others.

Our Admissions officer, l.traverse@firsschool.org is available to answer any queries you may have. At The Firs School our usual points of entry are into the Fir Cones nursery following a child's second birthday, into the pre-school Kindergarten class following a child's third birthday or into our Reception classes following a child's fourth birthday.

read moreOur Fir Cones nursery room is attached to our Kindergarten enabling our excellent early years provision to be utilised by our youngest children. We support children in using the three characteristics of effective teaching and learning. Our nursery sessions are play-based and develop in response to the children's needs, interests and achievements. Staff encourage children to explore their interests and work to foster a high self esteem in each individual. Research shows how children who develop their own interests show higher levels of engagement and progress well within their own development and absorb more information.
