About Us
read moreStockport Baptist Church is a welcoming and caring fellowship situated on the edge of Stockport town centre. The Church is community-focussed, working alongside other churches in Edgeley and Stockport. We share a mixture of old and new stylees of worship, taking advantage of modern technology. The Church is a member of the North Western Baptist Association, one of a number of regional associations which comprise the Baptist Union of Great Britain.

Our bible teaching aims to connect the deep, enduring truths of Scripture with our lives today. We make time for stillness, personal stories and the opportunity to reflect on what we've heard and respond personally. The children and young people stay in the service for the first half but then leave for their own 'Energise' group returning at the end of the service to share what they have been doing.

read moreThe work with asylum seekers at Stockport Baptist Church continues as we have seen a steady inflow of new people over the last 12 months. Our most pressing need is some accommodation for those who have been refused visas and have been made destitute by the Home Office. They are not allowed to work, do not receive any benefits, cannot legally rent any accommodation and are in limbo, waiting to apply for a 'fresh claim'. We currently have 4 of our asylum seekers in this situation and are trying to support them with food, pocket money, transport costs and somewhere to stay.

You may say that you don't believe in prayer, or that you don't believe in Jesus but don't worry - we do! We know that God can and does answer our prayers and that he will answer your prayers too if you only give him a chance. We will NOT pass on your details to anyone other than the person (or people) in our Church who are best able to deal with your prayer needs.
