At the age of 24 Sensei Williams started to study all the arts under Kenshiro Abbe Sensei tenth Dan, and then became his number one full time assistant. The 1st and only non-Japanese assistant to a Japanese teacher. He was later promoted to National Coach, for the British Aikido council and representative of the Aikikai, and started teaching and spreading Aikido all over the United Kingdom. At this time he was the youngest third Dan in the world. Abbe Sensei invited many teachers from the Aikikai for Sensei Williams to study under, Nakazono Sensei eighth Dan, Noro Sensei seventh Dan.
