We strive to supply all our patients with a perfect standard of primary care services. The practice was set up in 1947, and through the years has seen much change both with regard to team and geographic location of surgeries. We currently supply services to over 12, 800 patients from two sites (South Bank and The Stonebow) We hope that the practice continues to supply a traditional family doctor service while embracing positive changes that benefit our patients.

read moreJorvik Gillygate Practice is committed to providing a high-standard of healthcare to approximately 20,000 patients in York. The current practice formed after the merger of the Jorvik Medical Practice and the Gillygate surgery in November 2014. The main practice is based in the centre of York with a branch surgery based at South Bank York. If you suffer from asthma we would like to invite you to come and see our Practice Nurse for an asthma review every year. If you are happy with your care and would prefer not to come into the Surgery for a review, we still need to hear from you and invite you to complete our online questionnaire.

read moreWhen the surgery is closed for urgent non-life threating problems, please telephone 0300 1230762, or NHS 111 Service. You should use the NHS 111 service if you urgently need medical help or advice but it's not a life-threatening situation.

The practice works closely with other local healthcare professionals such as: District nurses, Midwifes, Health Visitors, and Retinal Screening. Jorvik Gillygate Practice participates in clinical research. The trials are all approved by ethics committees and often come from the National Institute for Health Research. You may see details on posters in the surgery or we might write to you offering you the chance to take part in a research trial.
