Sonning Golf Club lies in the middle of Berkshire on the A4 between Maidenhead and Reading. The course was designed and opened for play in 1914 by J H Taylor who won The Open Championship five times. He was one of the famous triumvirate of The Open winners - Braid, Taylor & Vardon. Max Faulkner was an Assistant Professional at Sonning from 1936 to 1937, he later went on to win The Open at Royal Portrush in 1951 with a score of 285. The course measures 6, 366 yards and has a par and standard scratch of 70.
