Sign Languages International (SLI) was set up in 1992 and, since launching its postgraduate diploma and NVQ interpreting programmes in 1998, has trained and qualified more than 200 British Sign Language - English interpreters and successfully supported in excess of 230 Level 4 BSL students (including 57 Deaf candidates) A major part of SLI's goal is to be collaborative; to co-operate actively with universities and other organisations to improve the type of interpreting services for Deaf people.
