Your vision becomes blurred because the cataract is like frosted glass, preventing sharp accurate focusing of an image on your retina reducing your clarity of vision. Cataracts can form at any age. Most develop as we get older, many people over 60 have some amount of cataract. Long term exposure to ultraviolet light can be a factor. You can be born with cataracts or acquire cataracts due to "trauma" (a blow to the head or an accident).

Oils and other products normally secreted by the eyelids build up on the lid surface and eyelashes resulting in eye irritation and often redness. Blepharitis is a common reoccurring eyelid disorder that can be treated very successfully with careful management of the condition. Regardless of which type of blepharitis you have, you will probably experience such symptoms as eye irritation, burning, tearing, foreign body sensations, crusty debris (in the lashes, in the corner of the eyes or on the lids), dryness and red eyelid margins.
