The Scottish School of Herbal Medicine is a non-profit making organisation, established in 1992 and committed to the furthering of herbal knowledge, education and research. We're a registered charity in Scotland (SCO24323) and are currently focussing on fundraising. The School has an exceptional concept of training herbal practitioners with an energetic approach to herbs and our view that herbalism is a holistic discipline. Our Vegan founders are strong advocates for non animal based, holistic and contemplative methods and the School goals and at all times to supply a balance of science and art in its teaching; we seek to further knowledge of herbal medicine for its individual and planetary benefits, and this philosophy pervades all that we do.

read moreThe popular introductory Herbal Correspondence Course is now run from our herb farm on the Isle of Arran and is an excellent intro if you are interested in treating yourself or your family and also for aspiring herbal students who can use it as an access course for University entrance and to see if the profession is for them. If you decide to enrol Keith Robertson MSc. F.NIMH will be your tutor for your assignments and he has over 30 years experience in the field. We also provide regular practical Herbal Medicine classes on Arran offering herb walks, plant ID, medicine making, botanical drawing etc and these form part of our new apprenticeship programme or they can be booked separately.

Based at our teaching facility in Glasgow, the aim of the Student Clinic is to provide extensive clinical training to our students, and to provide an affordable herbal service to the public with free consultations and affordable medicine costs. The clinic allows our BSc(Hons) Degree herbal students to gain confidence and self assurance as they develop practical skills, observe and treat patients, and learn a range of skills including diagnosis, treatment, dispensing, communication skills and safe practice.
