As one of the longest founded companies on the Thames we own one of the biggest and most exclusive fleets operating on the river. Our cruises combine traditional style, contemporary comforts and the highest modern standards. We provide a range of hugely popular boat trips through several of the most pretty scenery in England. During the summer our scheduled trips operate from every major location on the Upper-Thames between the university city of Oxford and the London boundary.

read moreThere are a number of long established businesses still operating on the Royal River Thames and arguably the most famous of these is Salter's Steamers Ltd (or Salters' for short), based at Folly Bridge in Oxford. The firm played a key role in popularising pleasure boating on the non-tidal river and its history provides a fascinating insight into how water-based leisure developed over the past two centuries. The current business was established in Oxford in 1858 by the brothers John and Stephen Salter, but the founders were already leading racing-boat-builders prior to this.

read moreAll of our boats were especially built for pleasure trips and provide excellent views of the surroundings. Most of our boats are on three levels with an open-deck for basking in the sun, a deck covered by an awning (for those who prefer some shade) and a fully enclosed saloon. The boats all have toilet facilities onboard and a bar serving drinks (hot, cold and alcoholic) as well as small snacks. Our boats can accommodate manual wheelchairs but it is best to contact our Oxford office for further details about disabled access from each of the respective landing stages.
