read moreAs an enthusiastic racing dinghy sailor our present Managing Director started out building G.P.14 and Enterprise dinghies from a lock up garage in 1957. From this followed the manufacture of the fittings in gunmetal, to such an extent that other builders started purchasing these items. A company was formed in 1959 as Small Boat supplies and became a limited company in 1961. The main purpose at that time was the manufacture of dinghy fittings for the fast growing racing dinghy market. This soon led to manufacturing a range of launching trolleys and with the increasing popularity of the small sailing cruiser an opening was seen in the boat trailer business and we were fortunate to be involved with the market leaders of the time, A.G. Hurley of Plymouth, Russel Marine of Southend and Blue Hulls of Blockley and made their trailers as original equipment.
