Most people were picked up from the office in South London and the AA were only a breakdown service, no plumbers or driving instructors yet. BSM were independent and the benchmark, providing tuition throughout the UK. Word of mouth spread and the school grew. In 1987 the government launched ADITE (Approved Driving Instructor Training Establishments), which was a recommended register for training driving instructors.

The theory test consists of multiple choice questions assessing the candidates understanding of driving theory as well as a hazard perception test.
