Fully recommend!
A very professional but also friendly business. Have looked after my eyes for several years. I was most impressed when they identified an issue I was unaware of, and dealt with it quickly and efficiently.

read moreIf you answer "yes" to any of these questions, you may have what eye care practitioners and doctors call dry eye syndrome (even if your eyes seem too watery!). It's a common problem, but you don't have to live with it. The term "dry eye" is used to describe a less than perfect tear film. The tear film lubricates and protects the surface of the eyes - if it is not optimal, friction between the eyeball and the inside of the eyelids can occur. Sometimes the problem lies with the natural oils in the tears, or the moisture content.

read moreAt Rawlings Opticians, our optometrists are all trained to pick up eye changes caused by diabetes. In the eye, diabetes affects the delicate blood vessels that feed the light sensitive layer at the back of the eye (the retina). In fact it is common for diabetes to be first noticed during an eye exam, either because of unusual glasses prescription changes or because of leakage of blood vessels in the retina. Once diagnosed as diabetic, regular eye checks are very important because if the blood vessels become too leaky, early treatment is needed to prevent permanent sight loss.

When the sun is low in the sky there is no natural protection afforded by your brow and so it is more important to wear UV protection. Luckily all our sunglasses are fully UV absorbing and comply with the stringent EU quality standards for protection. So come and choose a stylish pair of designer sunglasses, performance enhancing sports sunglasses or a simple pair for your holiday and enjoy the confidence of our sunglasses price promise.

Once you have selected the contact lenses which suit you best, the Optician at Rawlings will want to see you at regular intervals to monitor the prescription and fit of the lenses and the health of your eyes. It's a good idea to arrange for your child to have an eye test at around the age of three. A child does not have to be able to read to be tested for eye defects such as long and short sight.

Especially as we get older when we can face difficulties with contrast sensitivity, light and dark adaptation, glare, colour perception and restricted field of view; and these difficulties are often exaggerated when driving at night, bright, sunny days and days with poor visibility.
