Teesside is situated in the North East region of England, forming the historical border between Yorkshire to the N and Durham in the S. The name refers to the area around the River Tees, on which the major towns of Teesside, Redcar, Middlesbrough, and Stockton-on-Tees are located. The latter two towns are situated on the South and North of the river respectively. Teesside has a long and illustrious industrial past and heavy industry persists in the region to this day.
