Pramacare was established to supply aid and care for people in their own homes, enabling them to live independently. In the 1980s Dr. Chris Moran, a consultant at Christchurch Hospital, witnessed a growing need as he saw patients discharged from hospital care, even though there was no support for them at home. His vision was to supply Pain Relief and Management, from where the name PRAMA originated.
