About Us
read moreThe Oxford Clock Company looks after a wide range of clocks from clients covering most of Oxfordshire. Our business has been built up on our reputation and by reference and our ability to service those clocks and clients. In our restoration and conservation work we keep as close to the original when making parts whether in style or the materials we use. As an example we predominately use cast brass almost identical to that produced 300 years ago. From a research point of view our Library of over 400 books enables us to provide information to our clients on the clock maker and region that their clocks have come from.
Largest 18c Longcase Grandfather
read moreThe Oxford Clock Company have recently worked on this simply stunning and enormous walnut Grandfather clock by Markwick of London. It can only have been commissioned for a very substantial Georgian House by an architect such as Vanburg, Paine or James Gibbs. It is certainly the largest Longcase clock we have seen in 20 years and stands over 10.5 feet (320 cms) tall. The clock itself was made in about 1725 and apart from being exceptionally tall, runs for a month before needing rewinding and also chimes at the quarters on 6 bells.
