The son of Ebenezer Osborne from Cork and Rebecca Corn of Birmingham (they married in 1808) Edward Corn Osborne and his wife Emily (nee Wilcox) had 8 kids, 7 girls, 1 boy) The fledgling business was named 'E. C. W. Osborne' and specialised in producing information on rail transport such as timetables including the authoritative 'Osbornes Grand Junction Railway Guide' in 1838.
