In 1832, Edward Corn Osborne (1809-1886) founded a printing business at 84, New Street in the heart of Birmingham. The son of Ebenezer Osborne from Cork and Rebecca Corn of Birmingham (they married in 1808) Edward Corn Osborne and his wife Emily (nee Wilcox) had 8 kids, 7 girls, 1 boy) The fledgling business was named 'E. C. W. Osborne' and specialised in producing information on rail transport such as timetables including the authoritative 'Osbornes Grand Junction Railway Guide' in 1838.
