The National Diabetes Audit (NDA) is the one of the largest annual clinical audits in the world, integrating data from both primary and secondary care sources, making it the most comprehensive audit of its kind.

Our development mirrors the evolution of General Practice from the days of 'apprenticeship to a master' to the current postgraduate vocational training course. In other words, we can trace our history back from the days of apothecary-surgeon to the modern day Primary Health Care Team. The earliest line of direct descent of Southgate Surgery can be traced to three brothers who were born in Wragby. The eldest of thirteen, John Horsfall (1797-1859) took up the medical calling when he became apprenticed to Mr Edward Taylor of South Parade, Wakefield.

read moreA group of people joining together in a voluntary capacity to enhance the practice by working alongside the doctors and nurses on behalf of, and representing, the patients. We ask you to attend PPG meetings, which are held at the Surgery, or provide your e-mail details should you wish to become a 'virtual' member. The meetings usually take place every 6-8 weeks and we discuss issues affecting the practice, which helps us to deliver the best service we can. Generally anyone who is a patient registered at the practice.
