Mr Richard Caesar
read moreI aim to ensure that my patients are delighted with their treatment. This can only happen if they know what to expect, from the first consultation, to the day of surgery and throughout the post-operative period. If you are thinking about aesthetic treatment or any eyelid surgery I will meet your questions with direct, straightforward and honest answers. There is never an obligation to proceed to any surgery.
Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty by
read moreThe upper eyelid lift (technically called a blepharoplasty) is a procedure to correct heavy drooping upper lids - features that can make you look older and more tired than you feel. It is one of the safest and most reliable of all the cosmetic surgical procedures, with a very high satisfaction rate. The best candidates are men and women who are physically healthy, psychologically stable, and realistic in their expectations. Most are 35 or older, but if droopy, baggy eyelids run in your family, you may decide to have eyelid surgery at a younger age.
Patient Diary after Surgery by
read moreThis information is generalised. The exact details would be different for each individual. If safe to do so, stop regular aspirin to minimise the risk of bleeding. Avoid using ibuprofen or other non steroidal anti inflammatory agents. Travel to the hospital, settle into your room. See your consultant, ask your final questions, and sign the consent form. Go into the operating theatre. If having a local anaesthetic the initial 10 seconds of the injection sting. If general anaesthetic or sedation, a vein in the back of the hand has a needle inserted, after which there should be no pain at all.
Cheek Filler by Mr Richard Caesar
read moreSecond only to botox, fillers are the mainstay of non-surgical aesthetic treatments. They are an extremely effective way of adding volume to deeper layers and hydration to superficial layers of your skin. Modern hyalan fillers are safe and controllable. The wear off slowly, but should you not like the effect they can also be dissolved by an injection of hyaluronidase. The most popular areas are the lips, corners of the mouth, nasolabial lines, cheeks, tear trough and lateral brow. As the fillers need to be injected there is some discomfort.
Ptosis Repair by Mr Richard Caesar
read moreThe upper eyelid can itself hang low, a condition known as a ptosis. In the early stages this can make your eyes look sleepy, if the eyelid comes lower then it can cover your pupil and affect your visual field and even your vision. In most cases the cause is simply a stretching of where the levator muscle that lifts your upper lid inserts into the lid. It is important to exclude rare neurological and muscular problems. So long as these are excluded the treatment involves tightening up the levator muscle.
Botox Video by Mr Richard Caesar
read moreThe cosmetic form of botulinum toxin, often referred to by its product name Botox, is the most popular non-surgical cosmetic product. Delivered by injection it temporarily reduces or eliminates frown lines, forehead creases, crows feet near the eyes and thick bands in the neck. The toxin blocks the nerve impulses, temporarily paralysing the muscles that cause wrinkles, giving the skin a smoother, more refreshed appearance. The injections are usually painless, and unless you get a bruise, invisible.
