Maybush Medical Centre

Medical Center in Wakefield, West Yorkshire
Medical Center in Wakefield, West Yorkshire Maybush Medical Centre replaces the old Maybush Surgery which was located at the head of Regent Street in Belle Vue. The Practice had been in the building for over 100 years. Over the last several years, it became apparent that the Practice had outgrown the old building, which could not be further enlarged and modernised, so the decision to move had to be taken. Our new development is on the site of the former Saint Peter and Pauls Catholic Church, which is seen on the back cover with our new and old premises.

Maybush Medical Centre
read moreMaybush Medical Centre is a well-established practice that has operated in the locality for over 100 years. It is one of 37 Practices in the district of Wakefield. The original surgery was situated in a small terrace property at the head of Regent Street in Belle Vue, until it moved into new purpose built premises on Portobello Road in 1997. The guiding principles that define the organisational culture and form the basis of our core values are shared amongst the GP partners and staff.
About Us
read moreThe more you know about your pregnancy and your options, the more you are likely to feel in control. The information given here is based on The Pregnancy Book, which your midwife should give you at your first appointment. Here's a checklist of the vaccines that are routinely offered to everyone in the UK for free on the NHS, and the age at which you should ideally have them. Having an ill child can be a very scary experience for parents. If you understand more about the illness it can help you to feel more in control.

There are 5 total rounds, starting when your child is 8 weeks old and ending when they are 3 years and 4 months (their pre-school boosters). If your child is new to the country and has never been registered at a GP Practice before, it would be very helpful if you could provide us with a copy of their vaccination history.

read moreA new NHS system, helping to combat loneliness and other mental health issues is coming to Maybush soon! Half of GP appointments are for non-physical and non-medical issues such as relationship breakdowns, anxiety, depression and drug and alcohol addiction, so instead of clinicians reaching for their prescription pad and prescribing unnecessary medication, they will soon be sending patients to see a SOCIAL PRESCRIBER for positive health and well-being outcomes. This holistic approach enables social prescribers to 'prescribe' emotional well-being, as well as provide practical assistance to help deal with the issues that are affecting health, through techniques such as motivational interviewing, health coaching and enabling stronger connections with the local community.

This does not change the way in which we operate or affect your ability to make an appointment or speak with any of the GPs in the practice. Some patients will have been notified of this named GP, all other patients will be notified of their named GP on their next interaction with the surgery. Please feel free to contact us should you wish to find out before then. We would like to stress that this does NOT have an effect on who you see when you visit the surgery.
