I chose Marco Polo as they were a company able to arrange lessons around my slightly erratic working schedule in Oxford and it has proved to be an excellent decision. Driving

Marco is an amazing teacher!! I have recommended him to all my friends and family. In fact it would appear he is somewhat of a legend in the Oxford Medical School! He is a patient teacher, his lessons are interesting, he keeps you calm, he is always focused on everything you are doing so that every lesson you feel you have massively improved and he has good chat! I had a very short time to learn, and a big gap between my lessons, as well as a difficult timetable (often at short notice) whenever I was actually in Oxford and yet Marco accommodated for all these difficulties. I was able to pass first time (with only four faults) and my success is entirely due to Marco, as I was only taught by him. But more importantly (for my nervous parents and the people who have to share a road with me) I have become a good, safe driver! Although passing first time is an added bonus! Thank you so much Marco!!

I failed my driving test three times 18 years ago and then "buried my head in the sand" for a long time with regards to learning to drive! Resolved to try again in 2012, I am thrilled to have passed this time with only four minor faults thanks to the excellent tuition and support I received from Marco. He is reliable, meticulous and patient, and combines this with a good sense of humour and personable manner. I felt properly prepared for the driving test but particularly liked the way in which Marco's primary focus is on teaching safe driving for life not just getting through the test. I learnt to drive with Marco after a recommendation from a friend and am very glad I did. Marco is a thorough, patient and calm instructor who knows exactly what is required to pass the driving test. Excellent Instruction

Brilliant

I took an intensive course with Marco in the hope of passing my test within a short period of time- the best decision I could have made. I passed after only three weeks of lessons! I really enjoyed them, Marco always made them fun and relaxing and by the time I had passed, though I had only been driving for three weeks, I felt really confident. I could not recommend Marco more highly.

How Learning To Drive Was Meant To Be!!!

Getting a car driving license has been a breeze with "Marco Polo Oxford"!!! I couldn't ask for more personal attention during my learning. And it appeared I needed all of this attention, being not the fastest learner - admitting without hesitation, now that I was so successful with taking the test. Also amazingly my goal of receiving a license within several weeks was very nicely achieved, this is given no prior experience at all. All of this was possible due to an exceptional standard of teaching that was provided.

The only real downside was the expenses, and the demand for discipline to take lessons regularly during the week. But there isn't any way around these difficulties, I guess! So what I'm most grateful to "Marco Polo Oxford" is for making my learning engaging and safe. There were no particular problems with aspects that we couldn't positively overcome during the study. My actual driving test was ultimately a great success, followed by buying a car the day after, how do you like that?!

First thing as a new driver I've taken the "Pass Plus" course, during which I learned the essential skills of driving on motorways and in other difficult conditions. This completed my learning course with an extra ability and confidence. I've been on the road every day since, for leisure and a bit for work! All in all, I think I had a great luck to learn driving with this company, hence writing this review to let you know.

Highly recommending to you all this school, as well as already recommended to my friends and younger colleagues. They will be setting aside some time to get their licenses with "Marco Polo Oxford" -- so grab it while you can -- and go "explore driving", as the school slogan says. It is only as difficult or easy to pass the test as you make it, and you will make the right choice with "Marco Polo Oxford", have my word.

Great Instructor - Passes first time

Marco was a fantastic driving instructor - always very calm, patient and friendly. He was very thorough and reliable in his teaching, making sure that you knew everything you needed to be a safe and competent driver. He gives you lots of good techniques and rules for doing manoeuvres and general driving, so that you can apply them to any situation. I genuinely felt that developing me into a confident and safe driver was what was important to him, and because of him I passed my test first time. I would definitely recommend him to anyone learning to drive.

Driving lessons

After a bad experience with a driving instructor some years ago, I was very hesitant in choosing an instructor. However, I'm glad I discovered Marco. He was extremely patient and allowed the lessons to proceed at a pace I was comfortable with. He was very attentive identifying weaknesses to focus on in the next lesson and very focused on teaching how to drive well and safely, but at the same time making the lessons enjoyable.

Excellent

Marco has been an excellent instructor; patient, good fun and excellent at explaining the rules of the road. With him, I successfully achieved my license within only a few weeks (passing 1st time with only three minors no less!).

In addition to this, he knows the test routes extremely well and ensures considerable practice of each of the main components of the routes. He also provides access to a range of useful internet links including a prodigious database of theory questions, hazard perception, detailed pictures of the main roundabouts, correspondence about test criteria from the chief driving officer and excellent mock tests. The car is a wonderful vehicle to learn in being tolerant of mistakes and nice to drive.

In short, Marco Polo driving school comes highly recommended – both Marco himself and the extremely helpful office staff. So go explore driving!

Best Driving Instructor Ever!

I have tried to pass the driving test for the past one and half year before Marco took me over, he is an amazing instructor immediately pointed out my bad habits and weaknesses, only 2 and half months later, on 1st Nov, I passed my driving test with only two minor errors, unbelievable!!! Best driving instructor ever, huge fun and most importantly, he will let you enjoying the driving along with being confident and safe!

Cool, calm and massively experienced instructor

Passed 1st time in only 2 months with the tuition of the best instructor in Oxford!

Marco's approach to tutoring is outstanding. His lessons are calm and well-structured with an overall aim of preparing you, both practically and psychologically, for achieving your test date goal (for me, I had a deadline of 2 months). His knowledgeable ability to explain things very simply and clearly maximised my own understanding, and consequently, gave me more confidence to drive independently, especially as the lessons went on and there was more opportunity to do so.

He ensured that I gained confidence in each skill before moving on to the next thing and would revisit any areas that needed more work as appropriate. We spent a while on learning basic techniques in preparation for putting them into practice and developing them further, which I feel has been the main reason why I passed my test so quickly. The safety of all road users was a priority at all times, reinforced by Marco's explanations as to why we act on certain decisions and avoid other things and his capacity of information of other possible scenarios and their possible consequences was always helpful to me and aided future considerations with my own judgement of the roads.

Marco was able to be flexible with my awkward schedule and his communication of lesson reminders was very beneficial! His time is great value for money through a range of deals he offers. Provision of access to a variety of useful websites and information is given and his mock tests are invaluable!!! I passed first time after 2 months of tuition with only 2 minor faults! I highly recommend Marco as a driving instructor

I took +20hrs of driving lessons with Marco in preparation to my practical driving test. I need to say at the beginning I was not too motivated basically because I am experienced driver for +15 years with no incidents in much more hostile routes in my country but Marco did the right things to get my attention and interest. His method helped me to be aware of what kind of driving skills I need to conduct myself safely in the UK and we covered every aspect that make me feel comfy to take the exam. The learning process went from basics to more advanced aspects using most of the time test routes in Oxford and we were able to track the progress doing practical test at the end of each session. As for the formal Practical Test, I am honest, first time I failed the exam just because I missed a speed limit signal; 10 days after, I took the exam again and passed right away with just one minor fault. I really appreciate the right approach used by Marco to conduct the sessions and fully recommend him as a driving instructor if you do not only want to pass the exam but develop your capabilities to drive safely in the UK.

World Class Instructor!

Taking lessons with Marco Polo Oxford driving school proved to be a great decision. Coming from Canada with driving licence for automatic cars only I had to start from scratch and learn driving on left hand side. Manual cars have always been a challenge for me. When I started with lessons I was struggling even to understand what the clutch is. Then Marko’s ability to explain things in simple ways came in - he draw a sketch of clutch and explained what was happening every time I press the clutch and change a gear. From that moment I have realised that I had an excellent instructor.
During my lessons Marko has shown a great deal of patience, persistence, flexibility and above all skill. Not surprisingly I have managed to pass my driving test in first attempt. Every driving session was different yet very interesting. Marko is very professional and nice person. I can highly recommend his driving school Marco Polo Oxford to anyone.

Marco is a great driving instructor, he stays calm at all times and is always encouraging even after the mistakes that I made. Excellent driving instructor

Marco is a great driving instructor: calm, clear, friendly and full of good advice that helps break down driving into more manageable chunks to learn. I found his manner to be very calming, almost flegmatic at times, which is ideal for nervous drivers. He makes the most complicated of roundabouts a simple exercise in logic that can be negotiated without too much difficulty. He also knows all the test routes and runs mock tests through them, which I found very useful in getting up to test standard. I had failed my driving test twice in as many cities beforehand, but Marco got me through my third test with flying colours. I feel not only confident about driving, but also confident that I have learnt good techniques that will serve me well. On top of all this, Marco is a great bloke, who regularly bought me coffee! Highly recommended.

Exceptional service and passed first time!

Before my lessons with Marco I was not a very able or confident driver, however over 3 weeks of regular 4 hour lessons with Marco I was able to pass first time. Marco was very flexible and so the times of my lessons suited me very well. I always felt safe having Marco in the car as he always stayed calm and was very patient, even when we switched to my car a few lessons before the test (which is not duel control). Marco knew all the test routes for the practical so well and really gave me the best possible chance of passing by helping me become familiar with the area. It was the best idea switching to Marco and I would recommend him to anyone!

I would highly recommend Marco; he is a great guy and his approach to driving instruction is calm, patient, and clear. He doesn't just teach you how to pass your test, he teaches you to drive safely and conscientiously. The Driving School to go for

I had tried a different driving school previously, but wanted better teaching and faster progress. Marco Polo provided this - the teaching was excellent from the outset, the instruction was demanding and comprehensive, constantly targeted to the things I found most difficult in driving. The instructor was extremely friendly and gave me several practice tests. The level he expected in the car was higher than the level the examiners seek on the real test, and I passed with only one minor, a testament to his excellent coaching. What really helped me was that he was always calm and patient, and he made the lessons enjoyable (not always easy in Oxford rush-hour traffic!). I never thought I would be able to pass first time but he really boosted my confidence and was happy to explain things repeatedly if required. Marco's approach as a driving instructor isn't to just churn out students at a fast rate, but to make sure you can not only pass your test, but to also drive safely and confidently afterwards. He is very calm and patient instructor and will explain and show you things till you understand. He is very flexible with times and has always tried his best to fit me in when I had time. Passed first time!

The thought of even learning to drive terrified me but Marco quickly put me at ease and enabled me to pass my test first time and feel comfortable, confident and safe behind a wheel! I have since driven some friends to the Peak District so thank you Marco for providing me with the ability to do that!

Passed with no faults

I found Marco after looking for the top-rated instructor in Oxford, and I couldn't be happier with the result. His lessons teach you to drive better than the exam standard, which I think is important for a skill that may be used frequently. Marco has a great knowledge of the local area, and he gives advice about how to deal with the places that often cause problems for students in their exams, and explains how to drive safely at the more dangerous areas. The lessons were all very friendly, and Marco stays calm even if it takes you a lot of attempts to learn something. Although I failed my first practical exam due to a mistake on my part, I was able to pass on the second attempt two weeks later with no faults at all, which I think is down to Marco's great teaching. Absolutely recommended.
