We might never have known about LSR Baptist, if an Incendiary Bomb, one of a large shower of bombs to fall on the area in the early months of 1940, and which penetrated the church roof behind the pulpit, had exploded. But God had his hand of protection on the building and it survived. After the war the congregation never regained its former size, and for many years the church continued with only a tiny number attending. During the 60s and 70s there were discussions about erecting a new building but the task seemed out of reach and plans were shelved.

read moreWelcome to the Local Mission area, which shows how we seek to bless others in the surrounding area. Many people have been blessed by the warmth and love of a hand made shawl in a variety of situations. On the 1st Saturday of every month, we provide a free cafe for local people, where there is a chance for people to relax, chat. Normally the times of this are from 11:30 till 1pm. This is not open during the pandemic. We also hold a carol service which is very well attended by folk from the community.
