William Kendrick, Black Country man and bricklayer, established the firm in 1880. Soon his reputation for skilled and conscientious work was winning him substantial contracts all over the region. Later, he was joined by his son, who continued to guide the firm's growth after the founder's death at the ripe old age of ninety-one.
