About Us
read moreTae Kwon-Do is a version of an ancient form of unarmed combat practised for many centuries in the Orient, perfected in its present form in Korea. To the Korean people Tae Kwon-Do is more than a mere use of skilled movements. It also implies a way of thinking and life, particularly in instilling a concept and spirit of strict self-imposed discipline and an ideal of noble moral re-armament. In these days of violence and intimidation, which seem to plague our modern societies, Tae Kwon-Do enables the weak to possess a fine weapon to defend himself or herself and defeat the opponent as well.
read moreAt Lewes Tae Kwon Do, you will be encouraged to achieve your full potential and take gradings up to and beyond black belt. However, we are happy for people to come and train and choose to do so for health, fitness, self defense or whatever they wish to improve. Furthermore, if you want more from your training, you will also have the opportunity to attend local, national and international competitions throughout the year, in patterns, sparring and team events. All colour belt gradings are taken by Grandmaster David Oliver 9th Dan (The chairman of the TAGB) where you will perform the set TAGB syllabus, so you are guarenteed quality and a worthwhile achievement right from the start.
read moreJanuary came along with the Midlands Championships. A little too early for most, so instructor Michele went up with Melissa, Kaan and their mum. Melissa picked up a silver in tag team and Kaan a bronze in the same event. In February, many students got ready to compete in the English Championships in March, and for the first time Lewes had 4 tigers enter this national competition! However, March came, and as you all know, so did lockdown. The tournament was cancelled and as were all lessons! We took it in our stride and set up sessions over Zoom during the whole of March, April and May and some of June.
