read moreJohn Edward Hackett established the family business in 1922. He started out as a builder/carpenter conducting the occasional funeral as many builders did in those days. He built houses in Longford and the surrounding areas including our funeral home in Coventry. John Edward and his wife Annie Louise had five children, Eva, John Hugh (who sadly died at 6 weeks old) Jack, Joan and William (later known as Bill Snr). Eva, Jack, and Bill helped their father with the funeral business. During the Second World War Jack was called up for service in the Royal Navy, leaving a young Eva to assist with the running of the family business.
