Horsham Tree Surgeons

Gardening & Landscaping in Horsham, West Sussex
Gardening & Landscaping in Horsham, West Sussex We are local tree surgeons and lovers of trees and all things nature!

But we think that nature can be given a helping hand at times to enhance our environment and make it more pleasurable for us humans.

We are fortunate to live in a temperate climate (though sometimes it may not feel that way!) Generally our trees, hedges and shrubs get sufficient rain, coupled with a fairly long growing season, which suits our native species.

We are blessed in West Sussex to have many wonderful oak trees, even though thousands were felled during the First World War. So it's quite rare to see really old oaks in the county. But there are plenty that are over 100 years old and these are some of our favourite majestic trees.

But even the mighty oak needs looking after and sadly some are in need of some tender love and care.

Tree Stump Removal
read moreTree stumps can be useful - as you can see in the photo here, so you may want to keep them or sculpt them into garden art.

We've seen larger stumps turned into seating or carved into wonderful shapes, like bears. Or you could use the stump as a base for a bird table, planter or garden ornament.

But many times you'll just want the tree stump removed because it's in the way or just looks untidy. A stump left to rot on its own can take many years to disappear, so we offer a simple tree stump removal service if you'd prefer to keep your garden uncluterred.
Tree Felling
read moreWe love trees and they have huge benefits for our environment and wellbeing, but there are occasions when they just have to be felled.

Give the qualified experts at Horsham Tree Surgeons a call and we'll take care of all your tree felling jobs.
Leylandii Removal
read moreLeylandii trees - often known as Leyland Cypress - grow very rapidly and unless kept under control by regular tree surgery, they can outgrow their site.

Unfortunately many people don't realise just how big Leylandii can grow, so a lot of these trees have been planted in inappropriate places and left unpruned. They may be fine for a few years, but 20 years on they can start to cause problems.
Hedge Cutting
read moreHorsham Tree Surgeons are experts at hedge trimming in Horsham, West Sussex.

Most types of hedges need regular pruning to keep them in shape and tidy. We can trim your leylandii hedge or cut back your hawthorne hedge, making a huge difference to the look of your garden or paddock.

Tree Stump Grinding
read moreNot everyone wants their tree stumps ground or removed. Sometimes they make a comfortable perch in the sun! But in the average garden tree stumps are simply a nuisance - something to trip over or to ruin the design or the smooth run of your lawn. And of course some trees, like ash, may sprout and produce more unwanted growth. Of course you could hire a stump grinder or tackle the job with an axe or a hammer and chisel - but isn't life too short for such a long-winded approach? Wouldn't you rather call in the experts and get the job done in a timely and cost-effective manner?
Tree Cutting by Horsham Tree Surgeons
read moreIt's important to understand that if your tree is legally protected, then you may be committing a criminal offence if you prune or fell it without permission from your Local Planning Authority. Here's are descriptions of some of the tree cutting terms you may come across. To pollard a tree is to prune in order to restrict its natural height. It's used to keep trees and shrubs smaller than they would grow if left to their own devices. Pollarding usually starts once your tree reaches the desired height, then annual pollarding will ensure the tree stays the same size.
Local Tree removal & clearance
read moreOur job is to fell trees that need to be removed, but that could leave you with a big problem. It's surprising how large a big tree appears once it's on the ground. So you'll need your trees and old bushes not just taken down but also removed. You may want the logs for your own use, so we can saw these into suitable sizes and we'll chip all the smaller branches. You may have room yourself to dispose of the remainder of your trees - those parts that can't be chipped or used for anything else. But the average tree owner doesn't have the means to dispose of their old trees, so we'll remove them for you as part of our service and leave your garden looking tidy.
