Funeral Services in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear
With a history of many years service in the City Of Sunderland and its surrounding areas, we've become one of the most respected Independent Family Funeral Directors. Our service begins well before we conduct the funeral of your loved one. We'll spend a wealth of time either at the family home or one of our private arrangement rooms within our premises, getting to know each family and their wishes for the funeral of their loved one. It is only after careful planning that we're in a position to conduct the funeral of your loved one.

About Us
read moreMany of us at John G Hogg have unfortunately been where you are right now. We have lost people who have been close family members and dear friends. It is inevitable that at some point in our lives we will all experience the hurt, pain and distress of losing someone we love and care for. We are here to help, support and guide you and your family through this sad and difficult time. We take away some of the burden that bereavement can leave behind, and allow you to grieve with your family, while we carry out the funeral arrangements for your loved one.
Cremations
read moreCremations are now the most popular form of funeral. Most people will want a ceremony at the crematorium - using their chapel - but you can also hold the service in a church or other venue of your choice prior to the cremation. It is entirely up to you if you want the service to be religious or non-religious. A religious service will be conducted by an ordained minister or clergy from a specific faith or religion whereas a non-religious ceremony can have a civil celebrant or officiant from the humanist society.
Burials
read moreFuneral services can be as formal or informal as you would like - and it's entirely up to you as to how religious the service is depending on your beliefs and the wishes of your loved one. John G Hogg Funeral Directors can organise the funeral and a burial at your chosen cemetery, graveyard or burial ground and purchase a grave on your behalf where necessary. Most burial grounds have a chapel or room where the service can take place, but you may decide you want the service to take place in a particular church or other venue that has meaning for you.
