Having registered with Ofsted, HLC opened its doors in August 2007. Within 9 months, in July 2008, Ofsted judged the nursery Outstanding. It is a very popular nursery and places are limited, so we encourage parents to plan well ahead of time. All new children entering the nursery for the first time are carefully supported in their transition into the nursery. Each child's emotonal well-being is of paramount importance. The support is facilitated through a combination of home visits, induction vists and the use of a key person system.

It acknowledges that children's safety is at the forefront of our mind when we care for your child. read moreThe EYFS describes the time in your child's life between birth and age 5. This is a very important stage in each child's development. It helps them prepare for school. Working with parents we want to ensure each child's experience is happy, active, exciting and fun. This document is a non-statutory guide to support practitioners. It is a guide to making best-fit judgements about whether a child is showing typical development for their age, may be at risk of delay or is ahead for their age.

read moreThe guidelines were commissioned by the Department for Education and represent national best practice. They were developed with national professional organisations like the National Day Nurseries Association. They show how we meet the Early Years Foundation Stage welfare requirement on providing 'healthy, balanced and nutritious' food and drink. The award is not just about the food on the plate. It looks at the whole lunchtime experience for children, and how we support their understanding of what it means to eat healthily.
