read moreHarwood Park is owned and managed by the Austin Family, who have served the community as funeral directors for over three centuries. W. Austin and Sons Limited was originally established in 1700 in Graveley in Hertfordshire. It passed down through the generations and in 1965 John Austin - father to Claire, the current managing director - took over the helm. It was John's vision to provide a crematorium to serve the local community but he was unable to get council backing to build on municipal land.

read moreWe take pride in offering a service that doesn't feel impersonal or rushed. Everyone is given 45 minutes, which includes approximately 30 minutes for the service itself and time either side for mourners to arrive and leave. For a large group of mourners or those who feel they need more time, we're happy to arrange a 90-minute slot. We can provide services in the evenings and at weekends. We know this is a difficult time for you, so we make it our duty to ensure everything is taken care of. From the minister to the music, our chapel attendant will liaise with the funeral director to make sure things run smoothly throughout the service.

read moreOur memorial gardens provide a beautiful resting place for loved ones and a contemplative retreat for family and friends. We can place a memorial at Harwood Park even if the funeral didn't take place here. Our gardens are open for visitors to tend memorials, leave flowers or simply to feel comforted. You may want to scatter your loved one's ashes in one of our woodland areas or to choose a permanent memorial from one of the many we offer. Or, of course, you might want to take the ashes away with you to scatter elsewhere or cherish as a keepsake.

The 'Austin's Funeral Collection' brings together a selection of displays based on the most popular tributes chosen by our customers. The collection includes classic double-ended coffin sprays made up with roses, lilies or a seasonal mix, with matching saddles to decorate coffin handles. There are teardrop and heart-shaped displays, posy pads, baskets and country-style wreaths. You can also choose a cross display and floral lettering.

read moreWe want your visit to Harwood Park to be as stress-free as possible so we've designed it to make everything as easy for you as we can. When you arrive at our crematorium in Stevenage you'll find a large car park with 120 spaces, including disabled parking, and just a short walk away is our comfortable waiting room. This is separate from the chapel and vestibule, so you can have some privacy away from other mourners. Four toilets, including two disabled access, are located at the waiting room and over at our church-view coffee lounge.
