About Us
read moreGower Vets is a veterinary practice which has established itself amongst the local community in Swansea and now provides care to thousands of pets each year. They know as well as anyone that clients consider pets to be a member of their family and that is why the whole team at the practice works hard to provide the best veterinary care services. Gower Vets underwent a major building transformation in 2010 which enabled them to build on their high standard of service and develop that even further.
Pet Vaccinations
read morePet vaccinations are an important part of protecting your pets from harmful forms of bacteria and infections. Vaccinations stimulates the animal's immune system to respond and generate a memory of this response. This memory protects your pet as it enables the animal to be better prepared in killing the infectious agent if/when it is exposed in the future. Most vaccines are started 6-8 weeks old. Following this a second vaccine is needed after 10 weeks of age. This second vaccine is very important to overcome the natural antibodies given by the mum and is the main provider of long-term immunity.

Dog Microchipping
read moreIt has now become compulsory for dogs to be microchipped in the UK and their details kept up to date. Although it is only compulsory for dogs to be microchipped in the UK, we recommend that cats are microchipped too. Microchipping your pet may help you to be reunited if they go missing. Microchipping is a quick and relatively painless procedure. The microchip is around the size of a grain of rice and is placed using a wide bore needle. The chip is placed under the animals skin at the base of their neck (scruff).
