The Gym was set up in 1970 by Ron Ball and Pete Vickery - the latter a successful competitor in Cycling, Bodybuilding and Power Lifting, with a string of trophies to his name. These two, along with Peter Weeks still operate the gym, but now play less part in the day-to-day management. Harold Marillier has been Manager for seven years and has really built up the reputation of the Gym via his own and Karen Marillier's contest results. In addition, he has encouraged and given aid and guidance to a string of successful competitors from the Gym in both Bodybuilding and Power Lifting.

read moreWell, I have finally have got to update this website. I must apologise for just leaving you with a lot of old news. I can tell you that things have been very active in The Forest Gym and everyone has been very busy. We have been able to hold our fees constant for over 8 years. We have done this by watching costs and managed to increase the number of members. Unfortunatelly due to recent escalating running costs we have had no choice but to increase the membership fees, not a lot I will hasten to add.
