Edward Meeks

Meeks Shoes is a family company that was founded over one hundred years ago by Edward Meeks. Edward ran away from home with just a shilling in his pocket and took a job selling shoes in Ashton-under-Lyne. It was not long before he began up his own shop, which became a great success. Edward became a highly respected member of the local community and became Alderman of the borough. The Company still trades today in Ashton, and is now run by the 4th generation of the family, John Meeks and his sister Sally.
